“Mcvay plumbing performed extensive work at a property we are selling. Everything from inside plumbing, mainline repair, along with mainline repair from basement to curb line was handled very professionally.
We were informed upfront of the pricing prior to the required repairs.
All the employees involved in our repairs have been extremely kind and courteous. Every thing was explained thoroughly.

“Scheduled an appointment for the repair. Given time between 12 and 4pm. Called at 330 to verify i was receiving service in the timeframe. Was assured he was wrapping up his call and would be on his way. Called office around 405 and asked for an update. Was told he was still wrapping up his current job and would be there around 430. Hmm rush hour traffic from Shadyside to penn hills in 25 minutes.
Was told if I canceled i could reschedule next week. Said I would wait 15 more minutes then I was leaving. Would have electrician arriving close to 5. Received a call from office and was told I am still on schedule but electrician won't be done for another hour to an hour and half. Ok so maybe I would get service closer to 7pm when my appointment was to be at 4 pm. Unacceptable and had I not called office inquiring about my appointment they wouldn't have called me.”
“Had an excellent experience with McVay Plumbing. Mike came out to replace our gas main service line, and he was absolutely awesome from start to finish. He started the job right at 8am and didn’t finish until 8pm — not because of any fault on his part, but due to some delays caused by the gas company. Still, Mike powered through and kept working until it was dark, making sure everything was done right. He even stayed late to put in the cement and properly close up the hole. Truly professional, dedicated, and hardworking. Highly recommend Mike and McVay Plumbing!”
“I had become a big fan of McVay after using them for sewer line replacement, toilet installation, whole house generator, and furnace/heat pump installation. However, after the toilet was installed, my water bill was $1600, up from ~$250. It turned out the toilet was either defective or not installed properly. When I spoke with McVay about this, they rectified the problem and reimbursed me for most of the water bill. The following month, however, another much higher than normal water bill arrived and I found that it was part of the excess water bill from the malfunctioning toilet. When I contacted McVay, I was told no additional money would be paid by them, as they had already paid for the elevated water bill. So I have a water bill that's twice what it should be due to McVay's incompetence. I am not happy.”
“Jake replaced my bathtub fixtures, water pressure valve and shutoff valve. He did an excellent job. He was professional, thorough, knowledgeable, and made sure the areas were cleaned up afterwards. You have a valuable employee in him.”

“Two of your service technicians (Jordan and John?) came to repair a leak near our water meter. After digging, they left our yard in great shape. They also identified another leak with an outside faucet which they also repaired.
They were extremely professional, skilled and friendly and would highly recommend them for any plumbing services needed!”

“I recently had a sewage back up problem at my home and used a competitor who wanted to dig up my driveway to resolve my issue. I was referred to Mcvay by AWS insurance and couldn’t have been happier. Nick was dispatched to my home and immediately identified that the line needed to be power flushed. He was prompt, professional, and reassuring that the services he provided would resolve the problem. As a result of his actions, he saved me over $8,500.00 and the aggravation of having my driveway dug up, very satisfied.”
“Called for emergency service of a burst pipe.. Boiler was not pumping heat to the garage causing a pipe to freeze & burst. Technician repaired pipe and found that the pump on the boiler was defective. The technician drained the system then went back to the shop and picked up a replacement pump (1/2 hour) and installed it. The system was then refilled and every room had to be bled of excess air in the system.
The tech was very knowledgeable and completed the entire job in a very professional manner. I am 100% satisfied with Mcvay’s service and would not hesitate to call them next time.”

I don't have the names of the other techs who also recently took care of the furnace and water heater replacement, but all were great, skillful, hard working and professional in the service they did. Also a thank you customer service Trisha, and Steve, and sales rep Bob for helping to work with my schedule. And thank you to the inital tech who came out to assess the situation and was honest and didn't just slap a bandaid on it and call it a day. Thanks again for everything!”
“Nick and Anthony were at my house this morning (Christmas Eve) to fix a garbage disposal and a toilet. Both of them were amazing. Everything was done promptly, was well explained to us, and is in good working order. Both of them were courteous, friendly, and made the process so easy. Those are two employees that you should be proud of, as they serve as great front line representatives of your business. I will certainly refer McVay to any family/friends that have a plumbing issue. If the rest of your employees are as great as Nick and Anthony, any customer will be in good hands.”

“A few weeks ago, Kelsey, our plumber, was dispatched to our home to locate and repair a pinhole leak in a copper water pipe behind a wall in our dining room. Kelsey was very friendly and professional. She first carefully covered all the dining room furnishings, the floor, and the dining room window seat with plastic drop cloths to prevent dust contamination. Using a small power tool, she then neatly made a few cuts into the drywall and removed those sections of drywall until the leak was found. She then cut out the section of copper pipe which contained the leak, as well as several other areas of pipe corrosion which my wife and I asked her to remove in anticipation those corroded areas would eventually spring leaks as well. Kelsey gave us the option to replace the section of the water line that was removed with either a new section of copper pipe or polymer (PEX) pipe. We elected to replace the removed section with PEX. Using her power crimping tool, Kelsey then connected the PEX replacement to the two ends of the existing copper pipe inside the wall using the appropriate connectors. Kelsey then removed the drop cloths, drywall waste, and copper waste for disposal before she departed our home. As of this date (October 20, 2024), the repair is holding well; we plan to patch the drywall soon. We recommend McVay Plumbing, and in particular, Kelsey, to readers of this review. We plan to request Kelsey if/when we need to call upon McVay for our future plumbing needs.”

“I had my laundry hook up moved from the basement to a main floor bedroom and had everything, including the very old sink, removed from the basement. Adam and Vinnie did an amazing job! They had a lot of work to do and did it very well. They never slowed down, kept a clean work area, explained everything and answered any of our questions. I am very, very pleased with my new laundry room and the wonderful space in the basement. I have used McVay many times and have never been disappointed. Thanks!”
“The Mr. Sewer crews from McVay Plumbing did a great job for us, replacing all the drain pipes under our basement floor and lining the main pipe to the municipal sewer. McVay is a big outfit. We interacted with quite a few individuals and all were efficient, professional and courteous. One gentleman took videos of the old pipes, confirmed they were crumbling, and provided cost estimates. Once the work commenced, one team worked on excavating the old drains before they found asbestos under the flooring. Another team finished excavating after we had the asbestos removed by a third party contractor. One team lined the main pipe to the municipal sewer, and one team poured concrete to cover the new pipes and fill the trenches. The service team answering the phones made sure we got a prompt response whenever we called. As you can tell, McVay brings a very deep bench to their projects. We were impressed with the consistently high standards met by all their representatives. Highly recommended.”

My house is over 125 years old and because of that I have used many different contractors over the years. Right out of the gate Brett from McVay listened intently to what my concerns were. It doesn’t end there, he was at our house Wednesday 7-10, made a phone call, and GUARANTEED a new unit installed a mere two days later 7-12! Talk about going above and beyond! Two awesome workers showed up at 7:30am Friday morning (Rob F & Luke) and they were the best of the best! We had a brand new A/C and they had everything wrapped up by 1:30pm! These three gentlemen are a great asset to your company! And because of them, anyone who needs heating or cooling repair, I am referring them! An incredible job well done!”
